It’s all about the shoes!

Book Howard GuestMy friend Janice has just introduced me to the work of a friend of hers…a great photographer called Howard Guest http://howardguest.co.uk/. He does some really interesting portrait work, particularly with corporations, their employees and events.

His most recent work I love…because it’s about women and their ‘significant shoes’! As well as some great images (obviously), I like the stories that go with them…why the shoes are so important, where they are from, the memories imbued within them and the identities and histories they represent. It’s a lovely account of how what we wear can say so much about who we are and our past, present and future…

Kaffe Fassett – A Life in Colour

Kaffe Fassett Day Out 026I’ve been meaning to blog about this fantastic exhibition for ages…but have been drowning in undergraduate exam marking…that time of year!

This great exhibition of Kaffe Fassett’s incredible work is on at the London Fashion and Textile Museum and is on until the end of June…check out this link for more details: http://ftmlondon.org/ftm-exhibitions/kaffe-fassett/

I had a super time visiting, with my Mum, a few weeks ago. The work is so inspiring and the colours are incredible…I’m not sure any of pictures do the work justice! The exhibition is full of patchwork, beautiful embroidery, clothing and knitting. It’s really worth a trip…and there is a lovely café attached!
